Condos For Students

Some college students prefer living in dormitories on the campus of their school. Often, though, part of the college experience includes living off-campus, in a place of their own. For some, that means a single-family home. But just as often, students elect to live in condos. If you think about it, it makes sense У condos tend to be concentrated in urban areas, which is also where many colleges and universities are located.

There are many reasons why condos make sense for students. Here are a few:

Close to school

Condos are especially attractive for students without their own vehicle. That is because if the condos are not within walking distance from school, it is likely there is public transportation nearby. Depending on the city, that may include buses or light rail. And it is very likely the college or university is a regular stop on the line.

Minimal maintenance

Since there are not leaves to rake, lawns to mow, or snow to shovel for people who live in condos, there is more time for other things. For students, that means more time to study, do homework, or complete projects. After all, that is what college is all about, right?

Unless the students are professionals going back to school, they probably do not have enough money to buy a condo themselves. But their parents might, and condos are more affordable than single-family homes. For some parents who want to invest in real estate, buying a condo makes sense. They can rent it to their kids, and then to other students who go to the school. On the other hand, if students plan to just rent a place, they may find it is cheaper to rent a condo than a house.

Going to college often is the first time students are really away from the parents. They may feel more secure living in a condo building, since the neighbors are nearby and many condo buildings have some form of security. That knowledge likely gives the parents an extra measure of comfort, too.

Condo buildings are full of amenities, including things like pools and fitness rooms. That is a good deal, especially for students who have a tight budget. They probably cannot afford a membership at a gym, but when they live in a condo, they have access to all the amenities their building offers.
